In Memory of Johnny Allgood
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Walton EMC Director Johnny Allgood. A valued member of the Board, he had served as the Southwest Walton district representative since 1998.
He held various offices during his tenure, including chairman, vice chairman and secretary-treasurer. Johnny also served on several committees, including the Finance and Audit Committee, Employee Relations Committee, Policy Committee, Annual Meeting Committee, Member Services and Energy Management Committee, and Major Maintenance and Facilities Committee. He also served on the Board at Georgia EMC. His dedication to the state’s electric cooperative network was unwavering.
Johnny was born on June 13, 1943, in Walton County. He was married to his wife Lana for nearly 60 years and had two children, Brad Allgood (deceased) and Grant Allgood. His earlier hobbies included camping, snow skiing and going to Panama City Beach. He was a proud graduate of Southern Tech and worked for Lockheed Martin, Atlanta Gas Light and Chamberlain in Monroe. He concluded his career in construction and subcontracting.
Lana describes Johnny as laid back and not bothered by much. “He loved the employees of Walton EMC and cared deeply about the company,” she said.
Johnny will truly be missed by all who knew him.
