Summer is a time for sun, fun, and, at least this summer, the Olympic Games. The Olympic Games are a historical event that originated in ancient Greece, but there are plenty of reasons the Olympics will make history this year as well.
The Games this year will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from August 5th to August 21st. They will consist of a record number of countries and a record number of events. There will be 28 Olympic sports including rugby sevens and golf which were just added to the Olympics in 2009. There will be approximately 10,500 athletes competing this year.
These will also be the first Olympic Games to be held in South America. There will be 32 competition venues in Rio as well as five other cities around Brazil that will host the competitions.
The Summer Olympics features sports such as Basketball, Boxing, Cycling, Diving, Fencing, Golf, Gymnastics, Rowing, Swimming, Wrestling and many more. It will be an Olympics you don’t want to miss, as you will be able to see athletes from all over competing in some amazing sports.
There are big things happening at the Olympic Games this summer, so stay tuned to watch others exercise!
